Puppy Training – Train Your Dog at Home

The chronicle of training a puppy is not easy but difficult to a great extent. This is the general assertion of the dog owners. But to many others the concept of training a puppy at home can be simple if some precautionary measures are taken. It is true that the arrival of a puppy enchants the members and thus becomes the center of attraction. But the same one can be the subject of irritation if it is found to misbehave, act in a lackluster way and bring shame to the family. What is more the owners may be compelled to discard them.

Now if you are the owner and do not want the repetition of this, you should begin the training without any further delay. But keep this in mind that dogs are living creatures and not objects made of either wood or stone. For this reason they too have temperaments, emotions and strong senses of likes and dislikes. Any training session conducted by you should begin keeping these in consideration. This makes the training session joyous, lively and successful. There are in fact many who do not care of these and face ignominies at the end of the day.

Try to be aware of the breed of the dog from the initiation. There are many dogs that due to their own breeds appear as leaders. They are born in this way and will remain the same throughout the life. You, even with thousands of strategies, cannot convert them into mere followers. It is in their blood and for that they must be trained in a different manner. However, it is quite easier to train the followers. The success of the training happens to be best if the owner is the trainer. The success of the training depends on the trainer and not on the puppy. The training of a puppy needs time. Even though your dog is intelligent it will take at least weeks to learn obedience. Don’t get panicked as this is normal.

Never concentrate on rigorous training and that also for long hours. The training should be concise, daily and to the mark. For instance everyday in the morning a training of 20-25 minutes is quite enough. Try to judge the mood of the dog and then start training. If it is in a dejected mood, any training can transform it to an aggressive one. This is not desirable and should never be done. It’s better to begin the session with the simple command training like come, sit, heel, stay and fetch. These are easy to follow and this enables the puppies to learn fast. But never try to command in two different tones or else your puppy may get confused. Never try to perplex it since it many dampen its spirit and also self-confidence.

You shall have to be always the leader and make sure that he obeys your command. A dog for its genetic influence always reveres the leader of the pack and you should also be the same. Make also reward training a part of the session. This excels.

Learn Spanish Programs – 4 of the Best to Get You Learning Spanish in No Time

Want to learn Spanish? I’ll review the 4 learn Spanish programs that will help you learn Spanish in no time. There is no clearly defined “winner” in this comparison, just identifying what learn Spanish programs help what kind of people, because we all learn differently.

1. Pimsleur Spanish

I used Pimsleur when I was first learning Spanish, and I tell you that it’s a great course for beginners and intermediates who want to increase their spoken vocabulary and overall “spoken reflexes”, as you have to answer the question before a certain amount of time, which puts the pressure on to get the answer out before they move on. Another strength of Pimsleur Spanish is the repetition really drives the vocab right into your skull, and you won’t ever forget what you’ve learned. Drawbacks to Pimsleur include the price (over $800 for all 3 lesson blocks, and if you are going to get 1 you really should get all 3) there is very little written content, and the words “mind numbing” come to mind, which the Pimsleur learn Spanish programs are somewhat renowned for. So for the people that can afford a big hit to the wallet, don’t really care for or need to be able to read and don’t mind a little repetition, go for Pimsleur Spanish and you won’t be disappointed.

2. Rosetta Stone Spanish

The Rosetta Stone learn Spanish programs takes a very interesting approach to learning Spanish, there is effectively no translation or drills and prefers to throw you down the Spanish deep end in something called the “Dynamic Immersion method”. It’s something that really tries to simulate arriving in a foreign land and just picking up the language as you go. It’s really an ingenious solution and it works fairly well, but there are some inadequacies in the translation and it too is expensive, at $549 for all 3 levels. If you can afford it and you think you would learn a language by being “surrounded” by it then go for it!

3. Michel Thomas Spanish

Michel Thomas was a Polish linguist who developed his own very unique approach to teaching languages. Completely audio based, the format is Michel Thomas teaching 2 beginning students while you are listening and repeating. It’s a refreshingly informal approach that many people love. The drawbacks of these particular learn Spanish programs are that Michel’s accent, while very good for someone who wasn’t a native speaker, is slightly off on some phrases, which if you are a beginner you can not help but pick up yourself. As I said before there is no written content, and while a lot cheaper than the above courses at $390 for all of Michel’s Spanish material, it still isn’t cheap.

My recommendation is if you need to learn spoken Spanish quickly without worrying about reading/writing and Pimsleur Spanish is out of your budget, then the Michel Thomas learn Spanish programs are for you.

4. Rocket Spanish

Rocket Spanish is the new kid on the block, it takes something old (drills) something new (interactive Spanish games) and something borrowed (audio component ala Pimsleur and Michel Thomas). The games are customizable and you can use the editing tools to increase their difficulty when you are good enough, which is a nice feature, and the audio component, while not as comprehensive as Pimsleur, is still very good. And for $99 it’s among the best value learn Spanish programs out there. If you are on a budget and want to be able to read, write and speak Spanish (I’m guessing that would be most of you) then Rocket Spanish would be among the best learn Spanish programs for you.

Become a Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy technicians are responsible for performing various administrative and clerical tasks which assist licensed pharmacists in dispensing medication to patients. Some typical duties include answering phones, stocking shelves, counting tablets, and packaging and labeling prescription containers. Technicians also establish and maintain patient profiles, prepare insurance claim forms, accept doctor prescriptions, either electronically or via hard copy, and verify the information on them for completeness and accuracy. Technicians usually work very closely with pharmacists, and most work in retail pharmacies, although many work in grocery stores, department stores, hospitals, nursing homes and assisted-living facilities.

Education, Certification, Licensing

Most states have no requirements for formal training or certification of pharmacy technicians; however, such qualifications make it significantly easier to become successfully employed in the profession. Pharmacy technician training programs are available from vocational or technical schools, community colleges, some hospitals, and the military. Most of these programs lead to a certificate or diploma and take less than a year to complete, although those leading to an associate’s degree are usually two years in duration.

Certification is voluntary in most states although the number of states requiring it is increasing. Some employers require hires to become certified within a specified period of time. The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board administers the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination, which, when passed, leads to the awarding of a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) designation. Another prominent certification exam (the ExCPT, or Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians) is offered by the Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians. These certifications must be renewed every two years, and renewal requirements include 20 hours of continuing education within the two-year period.

Here are just a few ways that these programs can help you excel.

1. Streamline Your Productivity

Even the most organized and regimented employee sometimes has a hard time keeping on top of their daily tasks. Balancing long-term projects with short-term output can be difficult, and that’s where effective time management training comes in. Most professional development courses will offer a unit that deals with planning, scheduling, and compartmentalizing your tasks so that you’re working efficiently and effectively on a day-to-day basis, as well as in the longer term.

It may seem like a cliché, but it’s surprising how many people overlook the importance of team building. People are often so focused on their own individual goals that they forget how their job fits into the overall plan of their company or organization. With the advent of the Internet, e-mail, smartphones, and other forms of digital communication, it’s not uncommon to go days without interacting with a co-worker face to face. Professional development courses can help strengthen your interpersonal and working relationships with teammates, making it easier to collaborate and meet and exceed goals.

Most professional development courses offer a range of leadership classes designed to maximize your potential and help you make the most out of your career.

Remember: you absolutely can teach an old dog new tricks! Whether you’ve been working your job for 10 years or 10 minutes, there’s always something new to learn that can help you increase your performance and productivity.

Self Coaching – Let Go Of The Need To Be Right

The need to be right is strong in most of us. We often find ourselves battling it out with a loved one over trivial things, such as who it was left the milk out, just to prove we are in the right. I found myself on the verge of just such a battle recently. Driving to a conference with another coach. I work with frequently, who is also a good friend, we stopped at a pedestrian crossing as the lights turned red. I commented in passing, “These are new. It’s about time they put up a proper crossing here, I’m always having to look out for people walking out into the road.” My colleague seemed confused by my comment, “But these have been here for ages” he said. “I’m sure they’re new.” I said.

We were about to launch into a full scale argument when we looked at each other and laughed. As coaches we both knew that this discussion was a total waste of time and energy. We could choose to argue over it and get heated, without ever really winning the argument, or we could just let it go. Neither of us could prove our point, even though we were both convinced of being right. The more important question to answer was “Is it more important to be right, or to be happy” We both chose to change the subject and had a peaceful and enjoyable discussion about something else instead. Which coach was right?

It is important to pick your battles. A matter of how long the crossing had been in place was of no importance to either of us really. It really wasn’t worth spending any energy over that argument and introducing friction into our car journey. If you’re going to have an argument, then save it for the important issues, ones that make a difference to your life. Stand up for what you know is true when there are moral and ethical issues at stake, or when there is a life-threatening decision to make, but don’t waste time and energy over the trivial things that don’t matter when developing your coaching techniques.

Coaching Mastermind
Letting go of the need to be right frees us. Needing to be right all the time is an expression of our insecurity. It shows that we are trying to be in control and assert our power. The paradox is that when we really are in control of ourselves and have come into our own power, then we no longer feel the need to prove that we are right all the time. We can step gracefully away from an argument, letting that person cling to their beliefs and be absolutely fine about it.

Let go of needing to be right and though self coaching you will discover your own harmony and inner peace. Choose battles that are worth fighting and don’t waste energy on issues that really aren’t important at all. If something is really important to you then take a stand, but let the rest go without picking a fight over them.

Would you rather be right than happy?

Coaching Quotes

“The need to be right all the time is the biggest bar to new ideas. It is better to have enough ideas for some of them to be wrong than to be always right by having no ideas at all.” Edward De Bono

“The world is wrong side up. It needs to be turned upside down in order to be right side up. Billy Sunday

Career Change – What’s Holding You Back? Part 1

For many people, career change is an important dream, but one they never realize. The desire to move to a different line of work can arise at any stage in your career history.

Young people just starting out are excited by the prospect of going to work and earning a salary, but once the initial novelty has worn off, they may find it is not as much fun as they anticipated. Changing jobs may bring a temporary improvement, but as soon as you get into the routine, you are disillusioned again.

As we get older, our goals and priorities change and so even if you were happy with your original choice after college, you may feel that you want to do something different. This could be because you have children and want to spend more time with them or because you want the time and flexibility to follow other interests.

Of course, you can become bored with a career at any age and many people experiencing a “mid-life crisis” want to experiment with something new, such as setting up a small business or going part-time in their current job and starting something else on a part-time basis.

As retirement approaches, an increasing number of people are becoming aware of the need to earn an ongoing income. If you find yourself in this position, you may realize that a career change is the only way to achieve it.

With over 80% of Americans claiming they are unhappy at work, why is it that so few actually make the break and move to something they really enjoy?

Often our fears are greater than the desire to change, but if you can identify the fears which are holding you back, you can start to do something about them.

In part 2, we’ll consider some common fears which stop many people from making the first move.
